Turtle Rock Studios! Even then why not Remaster both Left 4 Dead games and make an all-in-one experience for todays new gen consoles as well as last gen, plus add both mod & custom map support. Left 4 Dead - The Movie is a non-profit fan made movie, based on the hit videogame by Valve. With todays current new gen consoles & even last gen such as PlayStation 4 & Xbox One there are titles that have mod support such as Fallout 4, The Elder Scrolls Skyrim Special Edition & Skater XL so why not Left 4 Dead! There's no news of there being a Left 4 Dead 3 being officially in development but there is a spiritual successor coming called Back 4 Blood which is being developed by the same people who made Left 4 Dead. On Xbox 360 the maps are still limited and you can't play with mods or custom maps only Official Campaigns or DLC Campaigns. The original games were released on PC & Xbox 360 exclusively, but sadly they never made either Left 4 Dead game on Playstation 3.
The Steam Community in particular has been making mods & custom maps for both games and they still do. Over the years the Left 4 Dead Community has become a very big community, people have made fond memories of teaming up & surviving the zombie infection in Left 4 Dead & Left 4 Dead 2 and still do to this day.
